On-going pain can destroy your quality of life. Limitations imposed by living with chronic pain may mean that activities such as work and hobbies, even little things that once brought satisfaction, pleasure, and self-esteem, may only be memories. Regaining quality of life is one of the goals of our physicians who attempt to treat chronic pain.

We treat patients with pain, including:
  Neck and shoulder pain
  Acute and chronic back pain
  Failed back surgery pain
  Headaches
  Joint and muscle pain
  Chronic abdominal pain
  Cancer pain
  Phantom limb pain
  Myofascial pain
  Fibromyalgia
  Reflux Sympathetic Dystrophy
  Neuropathies

Our treatments have brought pain relief to many of our patients who suffer from chronic pain. Many of our treatments generally bring pain relief 5 to 10 minutes after the procedure.

We Treat Pain Disorders
The Marion Pain Clinic continues to provide a multi-faceted approach to diagnosing and treating pain.

Spinal Cord Stimulation

This is an advacned treatment for certains types of chronic pain that uses electricl impulses to block pain from being perceived in the brain. A small device called a pulse generator is implanted to generate low-level electrical impulses to stimulate targeted nerves along the spianl cord. Instead of pain, the patient will then feel a more pleasant tingling sensation.

Intrathecal Pain Therapy

This therapy works by delivering small doses of analgesic directly to the pain receptors in the spinal cord, blocking pain messages to the brain. A surgically implanted pump delivers medication in small regular doses. The medication goes through a catheter to the intrathecal space around the spinal cord where it most effectively blocks pain signals. Exact dosages and frequency of delivery are determined by the physician.

Cervical Radiofrequency Ablation

Medial branch nerves are the very small nerve branches that communicate pain caused by the facet joints in the spine. These nerves do not control any muscles or sensations in the arms or legs. A radiofrequency ablation uses electrical impulses to burn the medial branch nerves in order to interrupt nerve conduction of pain signals on a semi-permanent basis. The nerves are usually blocked for 6-12 months.

Nerve Blocks

An anesthetic and/or anti-inflammatory is injected to block pain signals from a particular nerve, branch, or area.

  We Offer the following:
  • Cervical, Thorasic, and Lumbar Medial Branch Blocks
  • Stellate Ganglion Blocks
  • Lumbar Sympathetic Nerve Blocks
  • Selective Nerve Root Blocks
  • Brachial Plexus Blocks

Injections

An anti-inflammatory steroid is injected into the specified area to be treated to decrease inflammation of and near the nerve.

  We Offer the following:
  • Cervical, Thorasic, and Lumbar Epidurals
  • Trigger Point Injections
  • Caudal Epidural Steroid Injections
  • Sacroiliac Joint Injections
